چکیده

|In this paper, we develop bounds on the individual session backlog and delay distribution under the Generalized Processor Sharing (GPS) scheduling discipline. This work is motivated by, and is an extension of, Parekh and Gal-lager's deterministic study of the GPS scheduling discipline with leaky-bucket token controlled sessions 15], 16]. Using the exponentially bounded burstiness (E.B.B.) process model introduced in 18] as a source traac characterization, we establish results that extend the deterministic study of GPS: for a single GPS server in isolation, we present statistical bounds on the distributions of backlog and delay for each session. In the network setting, we show that networks belonging to a broad class of GPS assignments, the so-called Consistent Relative Session Treatment (CRST) GPS assignments, are stable in a stochastic sense. In particular, we establish simple bounds on the distribution of backlog and delay for each session in a Rate Proportional Processor Sharing (RPPS) GPS network with arbitrary topology.

Generalized Cyclic Open Shop Scheduling and a Hybrid Algorithm

In this paper, we first introduce a generalized version of open shop scheduling (OSS), called generalized cyclic open shop scheduling (GCOSS) and then develop a hybrid method of metaheuristic to solve this problem. Open shop scheduling is concerned with processing n jobs on m machines, where each job has exactly m operations and operation i of each job has to be processed on machine i . However...

Modified Pareto archived evolution strategy for the multi-skill project scheduling problem with generalized precedence relations

In this research, we study the multi-skill resource-constrained project scheduling problem, where there are generalized precedence relations between project activities. Workforces are able to perform one or several skills, and their efficiency improves by repeating their skills. For this problem, a mathematical formulation has been proposed that aims to optimize project completion time, reworki...

Development of a Set of Algorithms for the Multi-Project Scheduling Problems

In this paper, the problem of determining the best schedule for a set of projects has been modeled in the form of a generalized tardiness flowshop (GTF) problem. We develop a set of heuristic algorithms for minimizing the total tardiness of jobs in a GTF problem. In the generalized version of tardiness flowshop problems, a job is considered to be a collection of operations and there is a due da...

Statistical Delay Guarantee of Virtual Clock

In this paper, we derive a statistical delay guarantee of the generalized Virtual Clock scheduling algorithm. We define the concept of an equivalent fluid and packet source and prove a theorem that relates the departure time of a packet in a fluid FCFS multiplexor to its departure time in a packet multiplexor that uses generalized Virtual Clock algorithm for scheduling packets. This theorem ena...

Integrated Procurement, Production and Delivery Scheduling in a Generalized three Stage Supply Chain

In this research, we investigate a three-stage supply chain with one supplier, several manufacturers and multiple retailers where the supplier provides a common raw material to each manufacturer, who in turn uses a single stage production facility to convert it into final products that are delivered at fixed lot sizes to retailers. An integrated economic procurement, production, and delivery mo...
